Dream Cruise Grand Rapids, Michigan Saturday August 26th

Greetings!

Come one, come all - This Saturday, August 26th is the
Second Annual Grand Rapids Dream Cruise on 28th street.
If your coming in from out of town, here are a few routes to follow:

I-96 from Detroit: To the 28th street - West exit.
If you get off at the I-96 East exit, I believe some promos will be found
there as well. For the most part, from the highway exit - West is the cruise.

I-196 from Chicago: To the 28th street - East exit. The cruise starts about a mile
up and over the highway bridge or overpass in Grandville at Borgman Ford.

If your coming in from 131 from up Nort, you can go East or West.

From the East - West the cruise starts in Cascade, under the highway overpass,
through Kentwood, Wyoming and ends in Grandville.

From the West - East the cruise starts in Grandville at Borgman Ford, Wyoming,
Kentwood under the highway overpass, ending in Cascade.

Its a good 10-15 miles worth of fun in the sun - and all are welcome.

We have several car dealerships along the route that will have some kind of
promotion going on - especially if you have a classic.

There are (2) Ford dealerships on 28th street, with (1) on each end of the strip -
Fox Ford (Formally Duthler Ford) about 3 miles down on the south side if you are
heading West on 28th street and (1) in Grandville - Borgman Ford.

A good time to be had for all!

Re: Dream Cruise Grand Rapids, Michigan Saturday August 26th

Greetings!

I hope some folks made it down. It was a tribute to American Muscle.
On Sunday, the local news reported an estimated 185,000 folks took part
in the day long event - up 10,000 from a year ago - the first year.

The people lined 28th street with their bag chairs and sitting on the lawns
in front of the dealerships screaming out a variety of things such as
"Nice car" or " I had one of those when I was younger".

My car at best is a 5 to 10 foot looker so, the compliments were fun
to get - just don't look too close.

The most popular chants from the crowds were "Burnout".
My response - Why No! Especially not with an Inline Six.
Besides that, even if I had a V8, I wouldn't do that. The V8
Mustangs in line ahead of me certianly didn't take part in the burnouts.
Well, at least not when I was behind them.

The kids in their "newer" cars were doing it or their mid 80s Firebirds.
I wouldn't think anyone with their "401k on wheels" would want to chance
their rubber or drivetrain with the burnouts.

Personally, there's nothing to prove doing that.
All your doing is bringing yourself down to their level. Enough said.
Anyway, It was a lot of fun and look forward to next year.

Rudy
