Hello To All Mustang Shelby Drivers

Hello Everyone. My name is Lou. I was a Ford employee with the Norfolk Assembly PLant in Norfolk, VA. I'm still a Ford Man and drive a Ford product. Now I am back to my roots of auto sales , yes with Ford. . Today I sit in Ford of the 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This is a beautifull automobile. White with the blue stripping and black leather interior.

So if any of you real Shelby GT500 drivers are ready for the new 08 let me know.

Thank you for your time.

Okay Lou and just how much is your "Market Adjustment" on the '08's?!?!?!?!?

I know by reading some of the other posts on this forum that people like myself are getting pretty pissed about the dealers getting rich off us.

Hello Doug: I can understand way you and all the lovers of this car are getting pissed off. I hope not to piss you off with our price. We will only receive and that is maybe, three of these. Our prices is 57255.00 that is a 10k market adjustment.

Re: Hello To All Mustang Shelby Drivers

If you sold more, you would get more allocation. I laugh at the dealers who still have their 1 or 2 alloted '07s still on the showroom with a huge markup. Now they are crying they won't get but a couple '08s either. I wonder why????

If I were a dealer, I'd sell all my cars at MSRP or lower, build a reputable base with returning customers and referrals, sell more cars, make my "good" money in the service department and put the rest out of business because I sell cars and service, not hype. Gouging the hand that feeds you is pretty silly, when in the end you lose a life-long customer. Am I the only one who understands this?

Wow! What a great idea...sell the cars at good price around MSRP...create customer loyalty...make your money in service and selling parts. And when the owner decides to get something new, take the trade in. All the while the happy customer is referring his friends to the dealer b/c of the great customer service and good prices. It is a novel approach...do you think i might actually work ?

Re: Hello To All Mustang Shelby Drivers

For 16 years its has worked this way for me. Take care of the customer and the customer will take care of you. Being a retired US NAVY Man it has help me make friends all over the world. Have sold cars almost all over the world. Not many unsatisfied customers. You get what you get when you do what you do!

By keeping a Dealer Mark up on a second year Model, you are potentially making $10,000 but in the long run Losing way more than that. MSRP the Car(s) and hear the people sing your praises for years to come. as well as return for other vehicles, parts and service. the Hype has quieted and slightly used 07 GT500's are hitting the market to further complicate your ability to Cash in on the fast hit. I suggest you listen to the people on this site and think about where the market is and where it will be.

Don't you know that if there is a limited production car you have a God given right to mark up the price and fatten your wallet, it's in the constitution......isn't it? Hey I only have 1 1989 T-bird in pristine condition anyone want to buy it off me for only $9,995 over retail?

Re: Hello To All Mustang Shelby Drivers

Dear DougGT350, 66gtk, John76,DaltonDavid: I agree with all of you. I believe in your point of customer loyalty after the purchase and profit in the service area of ownership. This is all true in some ways. In today’s auto-manufacturing the facts are as follows. Ford vehicles spend less time in service for repairs and breakdowns. I have owned seven Lincoln Town Cars, five Grand Marquis, and One Mercury Marauder and now I drive an F-150 King Ranch. Not once have I had to bring any of these vehicles to service till for repairs other than normal schedule maintenance till after 120000 miles. This is way I still loyal to the Ford Lincoln Mercury brand. Now you tell me, how can you survive in just with service? You can’t! I also understand that yes, you should not rape the customer in the sale. Yes this is also true and we don’t. With the advent of the internet customers pay 100 maybe 200 over invoice. Customers have the ability to view the invoice on line, download and bring into a dealership and start negotiations from the invoice. It is very difficult to make profit in today’s technology base market. I hope this will help everyone understand why specialty vehicle are marked-up like they are.

Re: Hello To All Mustang Shelby Drivers

Lou...Because I was "raped" by the dealer in my purchase of my Shelby GT, that dealer will most likely never see the car again in it's garage! Even though I have "free lifetime inspection"! If they felt it was okay to gouge me on the purchase price, How stupid do I have to be to give them the chance to stick-it to me for repairs. I will deal with my local garage who has treated me and my family fair for several years. Sorry but that's they way I was raised...Do unto others as they do unto you!
