I own the original version with Steve McQueen and have seen the remake as well (sorry, but Pierce Brosnan will NEVER be as cool as Steve McQueen). I too do not recall a Shelby in the original. The book "McQueen's Machines" only makes mention of two cars associated with McQueen's character in The Thomas Crown Affair; a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow (now owned by the Peterson Automotive Museum) and a Corvair powered dune buggy. The book notes that the RR license plate is "TC 100" and the dune buggy is "TC 300". The author writes, "was Mr. Crown supposed to have yet another car? Not that we're aware of."
