Wrap your stock knob in duct tape then use the strap wrench. That's what worked for me on my 2010.
I own a 2011 GT500 and want to change the shift knob. I have tried a strap wrench with no success. I am reluctant to use heat on the knob where it screws into the shifter. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Good luck! I tried for over an hour by myself and then decided to take it to my dealer. It took them quite a while but my new shift knob looks great!
