On the Comp 427 with three color stripe
Probably this one was discussed before but don't know how to find it.
I have a picture from the Sixties, a front 3/4 view of a Comp 427 with extra small gas cap on right front fender that I believe is signifying dry sump car. This one also has racing windscreen and through the body 4-into-1 sidepipes and extra wide wheels in back. My question is: does anyone know what team this car was prepared for because usually it isn't until a team gets the car that they stripe it their sponsor's colors. Yet this car was shot at Shelby American before delivery to any team. Since the picture is black and white I am going to take a wild guess and say the stripe is green, white and red, all of them together about 6" wide. In a way it's similar to the stripe on the Ferrari 250GTO when it made its debut at the Ferrari factory. I wonder if this was one of two Cobra 427s sent to Europe to race by a private team? Sorry I don't have the technology to scan/upload the photo.
