oil change for newbies - 2010 GT500

don't follow the book on oil change schedules for the first 6k miles. this engine is extremely tight. changed mines at 1200 miles, now again at 3700 miles. still getting synificant metal. final cleaning will be at 6k. i suggest at least 3 changes in the first 6k miles. JMHO

You getting Metal fillings in the oil ?? If thats the case , i would say theres something wrong . Can you see it ? If mine does that , i will be sending a container for oil anylsis . There are also things on the market called Filter Mags . They are a 2 piece magnet that fits on to the outside of the oil filter . Doing this would likely stop the "Fillings" from floating about .

it's normal. the filter or mag will never trap all shavings. these are very fine.they should be gone by 5 to 6k miles.

These are Magnets that Magnetize the filter casing . In theory the fillings should stick to it. I just have a hard time thinking that theres metal shavings floating around . Are these Superchargers plumbed in to the engine oil or do they have their own seperate system ?

Supercharger has it's own seperate oil system contained inside the SC case.

So , if you want or need to change the oil , you have to take the Supercharger off or does the casing come apart . Sorry for my ignorance but i,m new to these Cars. On My old 97 Cobra, i had a Vortech fitted which is plumbed in to the main engine oil . Very straight forward to change it .

there are posts on SVTperformance.com and modularfords.com explaining how to change the oil.
In short. the SC comes apart without having to remove it from the engine and you can drain the oil and refill it. pretty easy to do.

I purchased the oil drain plug for a 07 Mustang GT that has a magnet on the end. Anyone know if this plug will work on the 08 Shelby, I've been looking for one specific to my car, but can't find anything,

Did you ever have this magnetic plug installed on a mustang and if so,,,did you trap any filings? A magnet duct taped to the filter would be a good idea if there are any gremlins. They would be diposed of at the next oil change. Can't hurt anything. Wonder why the filter makers don't get on that wagon?????
