2008 Shelby GT Pricing & Production #'s

Since a few of you are Talking Shelby GT's, here is the most recent info on the 2008 model. My understanding is that 6,000 unit were to be built for 2007 & now it looks like only 2,100 for 2008 making a total of 8,100 for two years. To me this is an option I may have to look at getting instead of the Super Snake or 40th Anniversary package added on to my car.

2008 Shelby GT Mustang Information

• Addition of a convertible model.
• Vista Blue become standard color.
Production dropped to 2,100 units.

(DEARBORN, MICHIGAN) StangsUnleashed.com - The Shelby GT is back for 2008 with a few changes. The most notable and highly anticipated change for 2008 is the addition of a convertible version. According to sources, the convertible version will make up an estimated 70% of all 2008 Shelby GTs made, however, that won't be too many since a total run of only 2,100 units will be made. Since the Shelby GT convertibles are expected to be hugely popular, they might exceed the 70% estimated production mix.

The second change for 2008 is the elimination of both Performance White and Black Ebony as exterior color choices - all 2008 Shelby GT models will be made in Vista Blue with Metallic Silver stripes.

The 2008 Shelby GT will use the same 4.6L engine as the 2007 model, which produces 319 horsepower. Like the 2007 Shelby GT, the 2008 model will include a cold air intake, Ford racing mufflers and premium fuel calibration. There will be two transmission options: a manual and an automatic - only 525 Shelby GTs will be produced with the automatic transmission option.

Functional Equipment
18" (64W) polished aluminum Bullitt wheels
FR Handling Package
Front and rear sway bars
Tuned dampers, springs, bushings
Cross-tower brace
FR short-throw shifter (manual only)
Upgraded rear axle (3.55 AT)
Bright aluminum pedals
Standard air bags (standard on all 2008 Mustangs)

Appearance Items
Hood pins and hood Scoop
Shelby grille insert and Pony badge
Shelby racing and body side stripes
Shelby GT sill plate & floor mats w/ Shelby logo
Shelby dash plaque, under-hood engine plaque
Powered by Ford fender badges
Shelby Light Bar (convertible only)
GT/CS front and rear fascias, side scoops.
Unique Shelby window sticker

If you're interested in a 2008 Shelby GT, your selling dealer needs to order the 54U upfitter option (price remains same as 2007 Shelby GT) and include a ship to code of 88WKH7.

• Coupe MSRP: $9,500.00 + Car MSRP
• Convertible MSRP: $11,800.00 + Car MSRP

2008 Shelby GT production (JOB1) will start in August of 2007 and end in November.

2008 Shelby GT Pricing & Production #'s

I know your post was rather old, but was good info - thanks. I'm anxiously awaiting to hear from anyone who has ordered one and especially when people start taking delivery. I have had 2 offers to purchase at MSRP, which makes me wonder how much less one might be able to talk them down, but I don't think it would be too likely.

You may have read my other posting, but I rented an 07 GT-H convertible; that was one sweet car. If I could wait until this time next year I'd try to get one, but on the other hand it would be sweet to have a new one all my own.

Are you still considering?

Re: 2008 Shelby GT Pricing & Production #'s

with just over 5100 miles on my Shelby GT, I have to say it is a very enjoyable and fun to drive car. not the fastest, but definitely faster than 95% of everything I pull up next to on a daily drive! I looked at a White GT500 Convertible at the Dealer yesterday. the sticker was $52,000!! add $7500 Mark up on that! my car felt real good driving away from the Dealer!!

Gt

I can't begin to say how much I enjoy this group; one of the most informative, sharing and informational I've been involved with. Thx for your reply!

I have to admit there's something about the GT that appeals to me, and I particularly like the GT-H because, and I guess this is rather sad to say, but it takes me back to the good old days - I remember the first issue of GT-H's, although I don't know that I ever actually saw one. It's cool history.

Glad you like yours. 500 or GT, they rock!
