2007 GT500 in high demand

Well, the high demand, or at least high interest in the car is obvious but may be even higher than you might imagine. Anyway, I have heard that Ford has requests for over 180,000 GT500's from their dealers. That's quite a high number.

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

WOW, that is a high number. I sure hope Ford and a few other companies sit up and take notice that this is what we want (fingers crossed that I actually get a GT500 at MSRP), and not the latest GTO and Charger/Challenger attempts. Ford hit the nail on the head with this car. I actually sold my 68 Firebird 400 Vert in order to save enough $$$ to get one.

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

Well, I don't know just how they count this, but at least 8 of these are me! I called up my 8 nearest Ford dealers, and asked to be put on the list for each of them.

What is the source of this number? If it is valid, I wonder how many requests the got for Ford GTs? I had a dealer call me (finally) on one, and have the kindness to ffer me one at a mere 80k over MSRP...

Chris.

Wouldn't it be fitting if every one that wants one holds out and lets the dealers burn on this, look at the GT's , you can buy a new GT for MSRP or just a hair over it and how about the guys that paid that premium, can you say SUCKER as they drive away?

I'm sure Jay Leno paid a hefty price over MSRP for his Ford GT but with as much money as he has, who cares?!?? You may consider people like him a sucker but I'm sure he does not consider himself a sucker. It's all about perspective. If you can afford it, spend your money how ever you choose. I personally would not pay over MSRP but can understand those folks that want a GT or GT500 asap...and hopefully they can afford the premium price tag.

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

Jay paid MSRP, his advertizing for Ford paid the premium, not to mention the low number cars he bought. in his case it wasn't about money as it was about who you know and rub elbows with. There are the SUCKERs out there now complaining about the turn of events ,as far as prices paid, same thing as the viper thing when they first came out. People with money don't like to give it up, thats why they have it,some are just not tooo smart and buy on impulse.

I hope those on lists who don't want to pay over MSRP realize that these high numbers are what's going to drive up the 'premium' for those of us who want an example of the first year's car. Has anyone considered the possibilty that future years of production may NOT have the CS name attached? This would explain his working w/ other limited production companies.

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

My dealer who I have been sending Clients to as well as buying many cars myself has told me they are ghetting One car per dealership. The Focus SVT Dealers will get one for being in that program. The Owner is taking the first one. I have a shot at the second. Just hope it is not the Secret Playboy Pink Model......unless of course it came with a Playboy Model in Pink!

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

If you are pacient there will be cars in the lots at years end at MSRP, the real buyers of these cars will no be willing to pay the premium, yes the first run will go to the gota have it now pay anything group. I think it a laugh that the same people that paid 80K plus for the 2000CobraR are now willing to sell cars with no miles for 40K to 45K, so that they can now buy a GT500 and pay the premium. Ford is planning around 7000 cars per year for a 3 year run, it doesn't matter what the total the dealers say they can sell, if they would cross reference the names on those list they would see Joe Blows name at least 5 times for the same car.

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

There was an article in the Oct edition of one of the newer mustang Mags, SVT and Ford put the production numbers somewhere between 10 to 15,000 units. So I wouldn't be surprised to see those numbers increase even higher by Jan '06 when we get to see the final version of the GT500. As long as the interest remains very high for this car.

If they guage an even higher interests after the car is reveiled at the auto show, then they might even look at bumping those production numbers higher, as they do with many new car models. IMHO

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

What are they using to base these numbers off of currently? There are multiple people on more than one list. So are they counting all the lists they are on, the number of requests for information on the car, or just the actual people that have stated they want the car?

I can believe that many would ask about the car but how many of that number are really planning on getting the car?

Just my very small $.02...

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

So with Caroll now going forward with a limited production run , which cars will be deemed more valuable in the future? As far as power it may not match Fords version, but what if he turns his car into a R model in the future using the Ford cobra as a base?

Re: 2007 GT500 in high demand

Hmm, if they are in such high demand, might as well get a Mustang GT, throw in a forged 5.4 motor with Ford GT heads and the Ford GT blower and a T56 and call it a day.
