Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

Lots of stories surrounding Shelbys. I doubt it was "lots" of cars.

Think more renters "used them well" rather than rent them as donors

Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

I think most of these stories are just that, stories. The stories get bigger the further down the line you go.

He has been known to make comments just to get a rise out of people (listeners)

Would not doubt though that it would be "several"

Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

What i like to see is how hertz had the "tamper wire" put on the new 06 and 07 hertz cars as to prevent added superchargers and the like, i assume.

Best Regards,
Vern

Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

Yes there are a number of them under the hood (at least - didn't check under the car) Saw them when I rented one last year, but like the earlier Hertz cars I wasn't interested in those details just got in and drove.

Did sign my name on the car (discussed in a number of treads at the time) so that some future owner would find a couple of the first renter's names

Did find it interesting that those cars started out as gold cars then the black shot over (gives a clue as to where I signed the car

Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

Didn't the 66 GT350H's originally have a speedo cable "tamper" lock while they were still owned by Hertz? Have a friend who has one that supposedly came off an original car. Wonder how many cars still have those, I assume they should have been removed before Hertz sold them.

Re: Missing GT350 Hertz motors

I would expect that at least the later ones cam equipped with them but not certain that all would have received them.

Not sure if Hertz took them off and recylced them to another rental or this was something that the new owners removed on the cars. Only know that they are not often seen
