First GT 500 Convertible restoration

Just got back this week from Pete Disher's. I took my 1968 #0056, The first GT 500 Convertible produced for final restoration. As some of you know this car was a Shelby Engineering car and was used to test Paxton Superchargers. One of less than a handfull known. After a year of researching and collecting necessary parts the project will be nearing completion. I located mostly NOS parts and completed some of the structural repairs which Pete gave me an "A" on. Pete has come up with some astounding Supercharger parts and I can say with complete certainty that this will be the most authentic GT 500 Supercharged car around. Pete really does his homework on stuff and this is no exception. You guys can check out the plans for what Pete calls "Project Midas" on his Website www.Thecoralsnake.com. I am sure he will be updating the website as the project moves forward. I also looked at some other cars pete had there and I can also say that Pete does some of the finest work anywhere. His attention to detail is outstanding. Hope to have some more updates soon.

Chuck

Chuck,
Pete has been keeping me updated on 56 regularly. We were discussing the oddities of the first cars today like the seat belts they used. It will be spectacular when done.

Hey, I said "A minus"

I am sure someone will chime in that the 1967 car was first, but we are not counting "prototypes"

You are putting an awful lot of pressure on me....

Pete,

I hope you document the restoration on your site like you did with 5S337. I really enjoyed reading about that one.

What are the horsepower numbers on a 428 with a paxton?....just curious.

Best Regards,

Haven't got that far yet, but the small block gets 40%- 45% horsepower gains.

Pete
Your wife said you can handle the pressure. Just giving credit where it's due.
Also, I thought by the time you saw some of the unique parts and other things about the car I had made it to an A!! You must grade on a curve
