the code on the windshield (VIN #) is not the same as the serial number on the metal plate on the fender. Can't remember what exactly it was, forgot to write it down but its 6XX. not 825
Well they are different but include the same #. Your windshield tag shoul read
8T02S129642 and then the Shelby tag (on the apron) adds the Shelby sequential # of 0825 so it should read 8T02S129642-0825.

Re: Not an owner but help needed!

That TLEA is smart. Good thing he didn't bet me lunch.

The windshield tag should read "8T02S129642" and match the door tag. "R" is the code for Highland Green.

The tag under the hood will read "8T02S129642-00825" That is of course, IF we are all talking about the same car.

Your earlier post (Number 14 in this thread) said the car was Shelby number 825.

No I'm not falling for that, I think I still owe you lunch from the last bet.

Re: Not an owner but help needed!

Alright that you guys you've been very helpful so far

So far we have:
-replaced valve cover gaskets
-replaced carb-to-manifold gasket
-cleaned the carb
-replaced water neck gasket
-pulled all spark plugs
-added a tad bit of oil to cylinders
-rotated the engine manually (it turns )
-checked dist. cap and rotor

still need to:
-new spark plugs
-run gas line from pump to new gas container
-new fluids/oil filter
-new battery

and from there I believe we should be set to go. Oh and fire extinguisher too.

Re: Not an owner but help needed!

I would suggest new gas and a new tank/fuel lines. The whole project is a couple hundred dollars.
Sorry you had that on your list already

Re: Not an owner but help needed!

Well to get it running, for now we are just going to run a different line to a spare gas jug. Once we get it running and everything we'll look into actually dealing with the tank.

Although we have had the advise to get a gas stabilizer from autozone, what's your opinions on that? Oh we tested the fuel filter and it was not clogged at all, so at least the gas in there was not jelly or anything.
