Re: Unresloved Turn Signal Issue
Hi,
Do you have the tilt column? Had a similar issue and it turned out to be the locking pin for the metal (ratchet?) that releases the wheel when the door is opened. The pin had broken and the play it allowed caused a "click" that drove me crazy. Also on my '67 a small piece of the plastic on the turn signal broke off and caused a similar sound although not every time I turned the wheel., and the switch would work fine. Robert |

Re: Unresloved Turn Signal Issue
Tim & Robert,
Thanks for the replies. Steering is tilt. Turn signals cancel normally when used. It is just that any time the wheel is turned and then straightened out, I get the cancelling click. Robert, I'm going to assume that the steering wheel/column needs to come apart to confirm what had happened to you? I guess now is the time to do that as I'm preparing to reinstall my steering box and control valve (see my next post here shortly if you have any tips)... Bob

Re: Unresloved Turn Signal Issue
Bob
If memory serves they had to pull the wheel and loosen the turn signal to get to I believe were two screws that held the lower collar in place to gain access to the tilt mechanism. On the '67 I pulled the wheel (non tilt) and loosened the turn sig switch and the piece that had broken off was beneath it. Both were completed with the column in place. Robert |
