1968 GT500KR - Yellow (WT 6066) Questions

Hi:

I'm trying to find more info on the WT 6066 Yellow 68 GT500KR FB Shelby Mustangs. Is there a registry for these? How many have FB's have been accounted for out of the 86 made? How many came with Black Stripes? Does anyone have any pictures? Where can I read more about these cars besides thecoralsnake.com? Lastly, how much more do these go for price wise over regular colored GT500KR FB's? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

I would not think they bring much more than a regular color. Any rare collector premium might be balanced by the number of people who would not want a yellow car. Who knows, they might become all the rage one day.

Re: 1968 GT500KR - Yellow (WT 6066) Questions

IIRC the yellow even though listed as a special paint color was actually used to replace the Sunlit Gold color because of all the color matching issues AO Smith was having with it. Ever notice you never see a Gold KR or late 350?

Thank you all for your replies. I emailed Peter Disher yesterday and he answered all my questions. Very helpful guy.

Tim -- I was told that they didn't paint any KR's sunlit gold -- they made 500 and 350 verts and FB's sunlit gold but later in 68 they didn't paint any sunlit gold -- interesting to note that 69 and 70 had no gold colors that i can think of....as for the original question...it smells like a research trip as to the collectibility of the s becker kr fb on e-bay -- i would agree with Tim and say I don't believe that color makes it rise in value -- any car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it -- yes, historically red and blue and black are great "resale" colors and people get nervous about the seafoam greens and golds and limes...It's a question of taste -- I would treat it as regular kr -- john

Would you guys say David Matthews (67 Registrar) is the Equivalent to Pete Disher for 67 Gt500's? I have found him to be extremely helpful. He verified that my 67 GT500 is 1 of 69 built with Automatic and Air and there are 45 known to exist. Now I need to find out how many are Wimbleton White.

Also, is there a site as comprehensive as Thecoralsnake.com for 67 GT 500's?

Two different people - two different focuses. Both very helpful. Pete does not have the access to the information that Dave does/world.

No and if there was one you would have to spend allot of time showing the running changes and differences between the different periods in production. 67 is a really difficult year for Mustangs and Shelbys

Looks like the restorer could spent more time on doing some homework on undercarriages for 68 NJ cars
