These cars are 40+ years old. Think about it. The....
perfect Shelby is probably not out there regardless of what some people claim. Sounds like you got a superb car. Celebrate that fact, enjoy its beauty, revel in its performance and...COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!!!

Beautiful Car congratulations! that looks like a Vintage Air system or one of equivalent quality. works better than the original and makes the car Driveable on the hotter days when putting the Top down is not an option. the White top would make the car cooler as Black draws heat, but White tops hold dirt and are sometims hard to clean. but if you are not using it every day it should not be a problem to change. just Money. I am partial to Green so no argument from me there. Black, Red, Acapulco Blue always seem to do better when available. enjoy the car and when you tire of it, someone will compensate you well for it if you maintain it like it is now!!

Re: Question for the Group on 68 Gt500KR C
Simple answer, yes. As for the mods it is a matter of taste. If like them then your the only one that has to be happy. Your car, your money do what makes you happy. Top would be easy change, radio no biggy but wether the speakers are in the doors or kick panels is easy or more expensive fix. A/C is from late model and works great vs. old style. Be happy and enjoy.

Re: Question for the Group on 68 Gt500KR C
Beautiful car. I personally like the black top with the green. Cars that are dead nuts factory original tend to bring the top dollar. However, I would not worry about the modifications to your car. The workmanship looks well done and the car could easily be put back to factory original specs with little effort, so I wouldn't be concerned about the impact to its value. It just depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to show it competitively at the top level, you may want to put it back factory original. If you just want to enjoy the car, I'd leave it alone and enjoy it.

Re: Question for the Group on 68 Gt500KR C
Thanks so much for all your input everyone. Great to see people reaching out and helping the rookies find their way through the maze out there.
I have been looking for a car daily for 2 weeks and I have probably talked to 50 people. You get some people shoving their cars down your throat and I ran for the hills. I also met some really great people in the Shelby circles who were more than willing to help out and gave me great information. Thanks everyone. |

The people trying to cram cars down your....
throat must have been dealers. The guys that I know that sell their cars are usually heartbroken and melancholy about it. Like they are divorcing their best friend.

Re: Question for the Group on 68 Gt500KR C
Anyone want to hear this baby purr? I have a video of it running, sounds like a beast.
Drop me an email or private message to mike.herman@gmail.com. There is a new service called www.yousendit.com which allows you to send files up to 1GB. Yes, 1GB. It basically hosts your file and allows others to go download it. Best of all it is free. Will be a fun service for us to send big files or videos of cars. I am addicted, can't enough of this stuff. I can blame it on staying up until 2am one night and watching "Rides". |
