Pics of engine with Paxton

Engine is ready to go back in...repaint of engine compartment is complete and new clutch is on the way! Should be back on the road in a couple of weeks. Can't wait for the warm weather and the shows to begin. Any one going to Mid-America in Tulsa in June?

Made my reservations in Jan. Engine looks great. I will be sure not to park next to you. I am glad you got rid of the tall valve covers. See you there.

Yeah, the tall covers were functional but just did not look right. Finally went back to stock rockers to make everything look original...

Re: Pics of engine with Paxton

Edward,
My car is a '66 serial #SFM6S1507, look at my pics in the Photos section of this fourm - user = peckshelby. As far as the radiator hoses, I am no concours expert by any means. The ones I now have were ordered from National Parts Depot and were advertised as "concours correct" for a '66 289.

Mike:

Great Car! The engine looks great. When you went back to the stock valve covers did you have to change out the cam when you put back the stock rockers? What cam and carb are you running presently with the Paxton? What compression are you running and did you do any head work? One final question does the car run hot or does coolant come out of the overflow tube at the radiator after you have run the car a little hard? I am trying to get mine dialed after my engine rebuild. Thanks in advance.

John

Re: Pics of engine with Paxton

I own '67 GT350 # 130, with a Paxton...

I use a 3 core high density fin radiator core and it runs great, also run a 18lb radiator cap, and have no antifreeze leakage.....

great running car...

Nice 67 GT 350. Thanks for the update. My car is a 68 GT 350 and I am going to have my original radiator recored to a three row and try the 18 lbs cap to see what happens.

Re: Pics of engine with Paxton

never changed the cam. It always had (and still has to the best of my knowledge) the Isky solid lifter cam that Competition Machine of Plano installed in 1999. If I remember correctly the specs were just a little hotter than the stock Shelby profile. No head work was performed. I sold the car in June '06 to Worldwide Musclecars and they have it at Russo & Steele this weekend on the auction block. If anyone finds out the sale price let me know, I am curious to see what it gets out there in Arizona!

It's good to see you still check in here Mr. Peck. Is the ZO6 still keeping the sellers remorse at bay.

No regrets! The Z06 is awesome and so much more fun than the Shelby!
Check it out:

Re: Pics of engine with Paxton

Thanks for the info on your engine. Russo and Steele should post the info right after the auction. I was at Barrett Jackson Auction and some of the prices went very high on some Shelbys and other cars that were questionable did not hit the money that the sellers were looking for.

I have had a problem at open track days where u push water out the overflow when run hard, I talked to Craig Connelly about it and he said make sure u use a good cap....the repo autolite ones are junk because they don't always hold the pressure that they are rated for....Alot of people that I've talked to at SAAC conventions have had the same problem with paxton cars...I hope this helps

Mike:

I did change out the cap and it did help. The repro cap is only used during car shows. I used another cap and it seemed to do the trick.
