Re: Need some help locating a part

There are differences. If it is a 390 car it likely has a C8ZE S1. If it is a Shelby or CJ it likely has a C8ZE L1 althouth I've heard of at leasts one coming with a S 1. It also matters were the car was made as San Jose cars have W MO on top tank and Metuchen cars, including Shelby have FoMoCo on tank. I'm not sure about Dearborn cars. Your best bet is ebay and likely it will need a core. The L 1s don't come around often, the S 1s are more common.

    TLEA,
Your right on the numbers .I am looking for a C8ZE L1, and a S1 will also be correct.
The car is a Metuchen car and should have FOMOCO on it.Any leads would be apreciated.
    Thanks Tout

Based on what I've seen most cars I've seen have the L1. I've only heard of one having an S1 (Pete's site) I notice you are in Doylestown. I grew up in Pottstown. Did you check with Allen Cross? I think I got one from him before. Just FYI C8ZE L1s were used in some 69 cars so check the date stamps if that is important to you.

Look up Fomoco Obsolete (www.fomoco.com) on the web - 215-949-9998. Not cheap but good parts.

I suspect Perogie Enterprises (609-448-1684) or Bill Herndon's Pony Warehouse (301-977-0309) would probably have it as well.

Not the hardest. C8ZX fan clutch, NOS C7 battery inner fender, 68 console rear ashtray come to mind. I can send you a picture if you need one but it is pretty much like any 24" FoMoCo radiator. I wouldn't think there would be much of a market and the costs would be high because of the licensing to use the FoMoCo name. Keep looking, I see about 2 or 3 turn up a year (L1's)
I'll email you if I see one.

    Rod,
S1 is an automatic radiator. The 68 autos could have M1s as well.

OK, thanks.. yea, my GT500 is an auto.

I mis-read the post and thought it said it should be an L1.

Re: Need some help locating a part FOMOCO 1968 radiator

I had purchased mine last year for 950.00, NOS and date code correct for my car,I was lucky and had calls into everyone I new for the last 20 years. I have seen cores going for 500.00 to 750.00 in the last few months, this part for a correctly restored car is on of the hardest to find, most were discarded for a new aftermarket one at half the cost.

Thumbs up Re: Need some help locating a part FOMOCO 1968 radiator

Hello : FoMoCo 68 Radiator, big block, 4 speed...... What date code do you need ??? A good friend has been a huge Ford dude for 30 + years, has shelves and racks of etc. I have his blessing, to go thru his inventory, tag and catolog all items. I hope to get to this project, huge as it is, starting 4-28-07. PLMK what date code you need, and I will try to help you get it, if he has it. Jeff. raceri69
